Air to Coil spring swap

Factory T-bird swaybar upgrade
Notes:
J-Mod
When i did the J-Mod on my car (1998), I followed the "J-Mod" 98 link above. I DID NOT however, remove the lower spring in the 1-2. I replaced my factory springs with the following.
F3LY-7F284-A - Purple - Lower 1-2 Spring
F75Z-7F284-BA - Brown - Upper 1-2 Spring
2-3 factory spring was left in place. Also note, that the hole in the gasket for #4 on mine had to be enlarged.
Air to Coil Spring swap
Please NOTE, although sometimes referenced as a strut... the Mark VIII uses a SHOCK, not a strut!
Use the following clickable part numbers for the upper mount:
KYB Part # SM5187
or
MOOG Part # K8632
or
MEVOTECH Part # MP901970
A spring compressor is not needed for this procedure. To remove the front air bag, i only needed to unbolt the top ball joint and the swaybar. This allows enough room to remove the bag. I then installed the new top t-bird mount in place.
If you are using new Tokico front shocks, front spring insulators are not needed as they come with the shocks.
Slide the spring over the new shock, and put it in place. Then Slowly lower the car, (make sure the shock shaft is lined up with the upper mount hole) and the weight of the car will compress the spring. Now install the top shock bolt under the hood.
For the Rear, you will need custom spring perches to locate the rear springs. Something like the ones DLF offers. Also rear spring isolators will be needed. Use part number 6-1709 Prothane Polyurethane Isolators.
