Subject: clutch plate mods < 090725 >
BUELLers:
You should check your clutch to make sure you have this
clutch PLATE up-date which may or may not been done by
previous owner/owners...
If you are told this can not be done(by a technician or a
parts technician), well the SPORTSTERS
have not had this SPRING PLATE since 2001 and the BLAST/XB
clutches never had it ...
This is what you should do to your CLUTCH if you have not
already done this !!!

To "PRODUCT IMPROVE" your clutch: < 090402 >
Remove SPRING PLATE PN 37977-90 which only lasts about 50K
MORE or LESS depending on how you ride(use your clutch) ...
WHEN IT GOES BAD YOU CNN NOT KEEK YOUR CLUTCH ADJUSTED !!!
You replace it with:
One(1) FRICTION PLATE PN 37911-90 ...
Two(2) STEEL PLATE(s) PN 37913-90 ...
Just as a NOTE: a friend of mine bought one of those BIG
DOLLAR after market Clutches and gave me his old clutch of
which "i" used the plates out of to do my clutch ...
You will then have the equivalent of what is sold as a
aftermarket RACING CLUTCH for the price of THREE(3) Plates
to UP-DATE your OEM Clutch ...
NOW, THIS MAKES IT SUCH A GOOD CLUTCH THAT WHEN YOU TAKE OFF
YOU CAN EASLEY SPIN THE REAR TIRE WHICH SOUNDS LIKE A
"SQUEAK" !!!
"AND" is just as good as the BIG $$$.$$ after aftermarket
clutches, IMHO MUCH BETTER !!!
You have to learn how to use the clutch all over again
because it takes effect so QUICK ...
CHECK the BEARING PN 8885 which acts basically the same as
the THROW OUT BEARING on a standard shift car
???????????????
If the TRANSMISSION Lubrication is not kept up to the
bottom(bike up-right as you would ride it) of the
SPRING,diaphragm(clutch) PN 36792-91 this bearing will go
bad for lack of lubrication(if not form a mal-adjusted
clutch) ...
The tranmission lube should never be below or above the
SPRING,diaphragam reguardless what tecnnicans tell you ..
The indication(bad bearing PN 8885) you get is, you can not
keep the CLUTCH in ADJUSTMENT !!! "i" went to the LOCAL
BEARING Supply(ask for their beat replacement bearing) and
got a sealed bearing to off set this lubrication situation
